The School of Medicine Leadership Team is comprised of senior associate deans, associate deans and chairs, each responsible for a key area of medical school administration.

Senior Associate Dean, Research

  1. Provides leadership for the research enterprise of the School of Medicine.
  2. Administers the school’s research facilities, including laboratory safety, policies and procedures.
Paul Lyons

Paul Lyons, M.D.

Senior Associate Dean, Medical Education

  1. Responsible for all curricular programs leading to the M.D. degree, including curriculum planning, development, management and evaluation.
  2. Faculty recruitment, appointment, development and evaluation.
  3. Development and oversight of Office of Educational Development.
  4. Student progress and promotion.
Raul Ruiz

Senior Associate Dean, Community Engagement and Partnerships

  1. On leave while serving as a congressman for the 36th District of California.
  2. Leads and develop medical school initiatives and projects involving community stakeholders in the health care, education and non-profit sectors.
  3. Assists in developing pathway programs aimed at preparing Inland Southern California students for admission to medical schools.

  1. Provides leadership for the medical school's initiatives in student recruitment, admissions, financial aid, academic enrichment, pathway programs, student well-being and career counseling.
