Chair of Social Medicine & Population Health (Tenured - Full Rank Faculty Position)

About the Position

The University of California Riverside (UCR) School of Medicine seeks to hire a tenured faculty member in the Department of Social Medicine, Population and Public Health. We seek to hire a leader in the field of health disparities, community-based participatory research, population health, or other areas related to social sciences and social determinants of health. The UCR School of Medicine is a community-based medical school with a mission of serving the medically underserved region of Inland Southern California. Requirements

The successful candidate must possess an M.D. or Ph.D. degree. The successful candidate should demonstrate notable scientific contributions, evidenced by high quality peer reviewed publications and a stellar record of sustained extramural funding. Candidate’s research interest should focus on health disparities, community-based participatory research, population and public health, or areas related to social sciences and social determinants of health. The candidate should also have methodological experience with community partnered and mixed methods research. Successful candidates will be also expected to show a strong commitment to education of medical students and residents. Finally, the candidate must demonstrate appropriate administrative experience and a proven record of academic, and administrative leadership qualities. The successful candidate will be responsible for the overall management, academic planning, budget, personnel, resource allocation and program development for Department of Social Medicine, Population and Public Health in the School of Medicine. The candidate will be expected to engage in research and seek grant-funding. This position will also provide leadership and direction in meeting the mission of the School of Medicine. Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.
