Biography

Dr. Yi-Pin Cheng, M.D., joined the UC Riverside School of Medicine as an assistant clinical professor in 2012. In addition to teaching medical students, she is a co-facilitator of problem-based learning and a clinician in the family medicine department.

Cheng also works as a physician in the Family Care Clinic at Riverside University Health System - Medical Center, providing full-spectrum family medicine outpatient care and precepting resident physicians.

She received her medical degree from the Universidad de Buenos Aires Facultad de Medicina in Argentina, then conducted her internship at Hospital Dr. Cosme Argerich in Buenos Aires. She did her residency in family medicine at RUHS.

She is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians, the American Medical Association and the California Academy of Family Physicians.

Research Interests

In addition to family medicine, Cheng has an interest in chronic obstructive pulminary disease and asthma. She has also participated in research studies on the efficacy and safety of the drugs Norditropin and Temisartan

Awards

  • Second Prize; poster presentation - Are we protecting our COPD/Asthma patients against Pneumococcus Infection?  The Family Medicine Resident Research Conference. 2011.
