Dr. Aalamgeer Ibrahim, M.D., is a health sciences assistant clinical professor for the UC Riverside School of Medicine and a staff psychiatrist in outpatient clinics for the Riverside University Health System.

Ibrahim completed his bachelor’s degree in medicine and surgery in Pakistan, and worked as house staff for medicine, surgery, and psychiatry at the Rawalpindi Medical College in Rawalpindi, Pakistan, and forensic medicine at the Shifa College of Medicine in Islamabad, Pakistan.

He came to the United States for a residency in general psychiatry at St. Louis University, then completed a fellowship in child psychiatry at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. Ibrahim then joined the Imperial County (California) Behavioral Health Systems as a consulting psychiatrist in  children and youth outpatient clinics and juvenile halls.

Ibrahim is certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in psychiatry and child and adolescent psychiatry.

While working in El Centro, California, Ibrahim was a frequent guest on KXO Radio, discussing topics including eating disorders, attention deficit deisorder in adolescents, bipolar disorders, and obsessive-compulsive disorder.

Research Interests

Ibrahim’s research has involved the prevalence of Parkinson’s disease dementia in community nursing homes as well as the relationship of chronic medical illnesses and adherence to treatment of depression in children and adolescents. He has also spoken about disorders among adolescents for many radio shows.

He is an advocate for the role of mental health providers in the community as well as the recognition of psychiatry as an integral part of medicine medical education and physician training.
