Biography

Dr. Arnold Tabuenca is the chief medical officer at the Riverside University Health System - Medical Center, a 520,000 square foot state-of-the-art tertiary care and level II adult and pediatric facility.

As CMO, he has improved the quality of trauma care, which resulted in obtaining American College of Surgeons level II trauma certification and has improved the level of care of stroke patients. Under his leadership, RUHS obtained Joint Commission advanced certification as a primary stroke center and received a “gold-plus rating” from the American Stroke Association.

As chair of surgery at the UCR School of Medicine, he started a new ACGME accredited surgery residency program and is working to develop surgical clerkship in multiple hospitals.

Research Interests

Tabuenca's recent work includes monitoring of and prevention of surgical site infection, as well as methods for tracking and managing data and information during residency programs.
