Resources for Students

FIRST: Financial Information, Resources, Services, and Tools

The Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) has made this resource available to medical students: https://www.aamc.org/services/first/. FIRST is designed to help members of the academic medicine community navigate the complexities of student debt. FIRST helps medical school borrowers expand their financial literacy, make smart decisions about student loans and manage their student debt wisely. Organize and track your loans, then view sample repayment scenarios with the Medloans® Organizer and Calculator, the only Web tool of its kind developed for medical students.

Monthly Budget Worksheet

This monthly budget worksheet allows you to track how much you spend on each item you purchase for a week. After you list each item, determine if each purchase was a need or a want, total your expenses and answer the questions.

Seven-Day Spending Log

This seven-day spending log worksheet allows you to track how much you spend on each item you purchase for a week. After you list each item, determine if each purchase was a need or a want, total your expenses and answer the questions.

Cost of Attendance

The tuition, fees, and charges detailed here are estimated based on currently approved amounts. These figures may not be final. Actual tuition, fees, and charges are subject to change by the Regents of the University of California and could be affected by state funding reductions. Accordingly, final approved levels (and thus a student's final balance due) may differ from the amounts shown.
