Postdoctoral scholar, and research technician positions with competitive salaries and benefits are available immediately in Dr. Tiwari-Woodruff Lab at the University of California, Riverside. The primary focus of Tiwari-Woodruff lab is to understand demyelination and neurodegeneration in postmortem MS brain and in different mouse models of Multiple sclerosis. In addition, discovering therapeutic agents that have immunomodulatory and remyelinating properties to induce recovery and repair. Post-doctoral scholar positions are immediately available for two funded projects: i) To investigate the role of CXCL1 chemokine in remyelination and repair (required strong neuroimmunology background); ii) investigate the initiation of seizure and involvement of inhibitory neurons and astrocyte gap junctions in chronically demyelinated mouse model of multiple sclerosis (required brain slice electrophysiology background). For additional information about our research and recent publications, please visit our website: https://profiles.ucr.edu/app/home/profile/seemaw.
Tiwari-Woodruff lab uses animal models, immunology, electrophysiology, molecular biology and biochemistry approaches for these studies. Candidates should have strong neuroimmunology or electrophysiology experience. For postdoctoral positions, candidates should have a doctoral degree in neuroscience, immunology, biochemistry, physiology or related field. We welcome and strongly support scientists with diverse backgrounds who are energetic and highly motivated for career advancement. Postdoctoral salary is commensurate upon qualifications and 2-step higher than NIH NRSA stipends (https://graduate.ucr.edu/postdoctoral-studies). University of California also offers competitive salary and benefit for staff scientists.

UC Riverside has a vibrant research environment (including 2 Nobel laureates and more than a dozen of national academies members). Our lab is housed in the state-of-the-art Multidisciplinary Research Building, UC Riverside’s newest and largest research building. The campus is also located in a prime position close to other universities, research institutes, and biotech industries present in Southern California.
Riverside is a wonderful place to live, providing ample cultural and entertainment opportunities in a safe and comfortable community with affordable housing and living expenses. Riverside is about an hour away from beautiful beaches and ski slopes. The city offers all the cultural advantages of any U.S. city, together with the amazing all-year-round weather of sunny Southern California.
Preference will be given to candidates with research experience in EAE immunology and slice electrophysiology. Ability to work both independently and cooperatively within a team is essential. Applicants should send a CV, a brief research statement, and the names/contact information of three references to Dr. Tiwari-Woodruff via email: seema.tiwari-woodruff@medsch.ucr.edu
