Postdoctoral Scholar Positions for Infectious Disease Research

Postdoctoral scholar with competitive salaries and benefits are available immediately in the Prof. Pegan Lab at the University of California, Riverside. The individual filling this new position will assist in my federally funded related projects that seek to develop new vaccines and therapeutics for viruses that cause Congo Crimean Hemorrhagic Fever, COVID19, and others. Our primary focus is to understand the molecular mechanisms these viruses utilize to circumvent host immunity and translate that knowledge for therapeutic benefit. Molecular biology, mammalian protein expression, protein purification, structural biology (X-ray), biochemical characterizations as well as other drug discovery and biophysical techniques are the main research approaches for these studies. For postdoctoral positions, candidates should have a doctoral degree in molecular biology, biochemistry or related field, and strong background in cell culture, biochemical and molecular biology techniques. Preference will be given to candidates with research experience in utilizing the above described research techniques as well as having at least one first author publication. Preference is also given to those with one or more first author publication and a strong desire to perform infectious disease research. Ability to work both independently and cooperatively within a team is essential.
