Community Responsive and Engaged Equity Research  (CREER) Laboratory – Postdoctoral Researcher

Position Description

A postdoctoral research position(s) are available in the Community Responsive and Engaged Equity Research (CREER) Lab at University of California, Riverside. The CREER in mental health laboratory, which undertakes a range of NIH, state, and privately funded studies focused on addressing mental health disparities in minoritized populations and access to care, community partnered research with Latino, immigrant, African American/Black, and Native American communities, and health services and clinical research that includes community co-developed digital mental health interventions for adolescents, caregivers, and immigrant adults. This postdoctoral position is an excellent opportunity for an MD with an interest in developing as a physician-scientist in the field of child and adolescent psychiatry and mental health services research.

We are recruiting for a two-year post-doctoral fellowship that features opportunities for research in the following areas:  

Child and adolescent psychiatry research: This position will offer an opportunity to work on various projects related to clinical interventions, curriculum development and research relevant to addressing mental health disparities in pediatric minoritized populations and other underserved populations.

Digital Health Intervention development: This position will offer an opportunity to contribute to ongoing lab research in community participatory co-development of digital health interventions for mental health.  

Community engaged research: This project offers an opportunity to work on an NIH funded project that is community partnered with the Latino and urban Native American community of San Francisco and with emerging partners in Riverside, CA  

The CREER Lab is located in the University of California School of Medicine equipped with state-of-the-art research facilities. UC Riverside is a world-class research university with highly ranked graduate programs in neuroscience and biological sciences. Our Southern California location is home to one of the largest academic research and biotechnology hubs in the US. Lab members enjoy direct access to this outstanding community of scientists and clinicians as well as the wide range of recreational activities available in our region. Successful candidates will join an interdisciplinary and collaborative team to develop the next generation tools and community collaborative research methods to address mental health disparities and promote innovation. The postdoc will be involved in the CREER team’s ongoing research and have an opportunity for engaging in their own developed projects, manuscript development, and research grant writing.

Requirements: MD/DO. Competitive applicants will have at least one high-quality, first-author publication and demonstrated interest in psychiatry, child and adolescent psychiatry or a related field.

Salary Information: Salary will be based on University of California guidelines for the Postdoctoral scholars and is commensurate with experience. These positions are funded by either NIH grants or other department of psychiatry and neurosciences research funds.

The posted UC salary scales [(https://www.ucop.edu/academic-personnel-programs/compensation/index.html)] set the minimum pay determined by rank and step at appointment. See Table 23 for the salary range. The Base Salary range for this position is $64,480 – $77,327.
